The

Glass Engraving, producing excellent and enviable results. Their attention to detail together with their In House Technology has set them apart from other Engravers.
For centuries Glass has been engraved. Indeed, from the earliest time of Glass making, vessels and objects have been worked, shaped and finished using various substances, notably stones of varying hardness. In Roman times, with the advent of free and mould-blown glassware, 'blanks' were passed from the glassmakers to the engravers, who employed a wealth of cutting, scratching or abrading techniques. Glassmakers even then realised that the addition of even the simplest decorative feature frequently transforms a mundane piece into a very much more desirable object.
The Engraving Gallery uses two main methods of Glass Engraving. Computerised Diamond Tip Engraving provides excellent results when engraving glass. Computerised Engraving ensures that the positioning of the engraving is perfectly aligned and that all the lettering is totally uniform. If there is more than one item engraved, you can be sure that they will all match perfectly. It also allows for choices, not only in the fonts used for the engraving but in exactly how the Engraving is sized and positioned.
Sandblasting is the second method of engraving used. This is an industrial technique in which very fine white aluminum oxide is propelled at a high pressure, by compressed air, onto a stencil attached to the Glass. It is associated with mass produced designs, but in the hands of an experienced engraver, using stencils and hand-controlled deep cutting and shading techniques, it can produce highly individual and original results. The deep, clear, crisp engraving achieved using this method is deep enough to dig your finger nail into!
The Specialised Technology developed by The Engraving Gallery and used with this method of engraving, is exceptionally successful in achieving clear and detailed images which can then be sandblasted into the Glass, by their experienced Engravers. This Technology can take complicated and detailed Logos, Images and Photographs and produce amazing results. Whether they come in a variety of colours, shapes and sizes, or is simply one colour, two colours, or multiple colours with gradients and shading this Company can handle it all with ease.
We still follow in the steps of the Early Romans, despite the advancement of technology in this field. Because for sure, the art of Glass Engraving still transforms a piece of glass into something quite exceptional and truly memorable.
